Please & Thank You is Kentucky's most recommended restaurant, according to Facebook

USA Today recently asked Facebook for data that would reveal which restaurants in every state were mentioned most often when people ask for recommendations.

First off, what data does Facebook not have? Can it determine how many times I have shaken my damn head in comments sections? It's a lot, I know that much.

Second, Louisville's Please & Thank You was the winner in Kentucky, making it an outlier in overall results that greatly favored traditional restaurants.

Please & Thank You co-owner Brooke Vaughn, who doesn't even have a personal Facebook page, was pretty stoked about the win. She was especially excited because her hometown restaurant, Indianapolis' St. Elmo Steak House, was No. 1 in Indiana.

"That's kind of amazing that we're held in the same high regard as a place that's been around since the 1930s," she said.

Vaughn wasn't surprised by the results in one regard: Please & Thank You has always been driven by social media. The business plan included using social media exclusively for marketing – there has never been an advertising budget.

"People still spend lots of money on stuff like that but my clientele isn't looking at magazine ads," she said. "My clientele is looking at their phones."

Please & Thank You has two locations and a third on the way. The original, and the one likely to be getting all of those recommendations, is at 800 E. Market St. The other is at 2341 Frankfort Ave. and a third will open  Aug. 19 at 252 E. Market St.
